Build a phone charge extender in 5 minutes inside Radio Shack. Robots Anywhere!

Schematic at http://www.robots-everywhere.com/re_wiki/index.php?title=Ersatz_battery_booster
Sometimes you need to make sure you can livestream an event, but have little prep time. Phones usually eat up batteries like crazy then. So here's how to improvise an extender that uses AA, C or D batteries. Best of all -- no soldering, you can build it directly inside a radio shack!

Warning: Pay attention to the polarity!

Highschool of The Dead...

Highschool of the Dead (Gakuen Mokushiroku, "Academy Apocalypse", abbreviated as H.O.T.D.)

This anime came out in 2010. The manga was getting really good reviews and initially there was quite a bit of interest in the anime. The anime hit and ran for 12 frikken episodes. Period. Nadda. Pau.

The manga of course continues and is up to like volume 5 chapter 3 or so. Something like 29 chapters. Anime = 12. Come on! This series was smokin' and they're letting it die out!

Not all physicists are boring.

The Official website of Dr. Michio Kaku (http://mkaku.org/)

Ok. So I don't really remember which program I first saw Dr. Kaku. I kinda think it was on interstellar travel or some such. And for some reason I thought "Hey! This guy actually sounds like he knows what he is talking about!" Considering the rest of the speakers have equally impressive credentials(?), for whatever reason, said it in a manner that kept my interest.

I know. I'm weird like that...

So as much as I like Firefox... I decided to test out Palemoon.

Pale Moon project (http://www.palemoon.org/) seems to be offering people an alternative to the bloatware (which I personally haven't experienced) that is Firefox. I have used Firefox from looong ago. About the time that it was first introduced.

From the homepage:
"Why settle for a basic build of your Firefox browser on Windows Operating Systems when you can have one that is specifically made for getting the most out of your system? Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, meaning you may be losing speed and efficiency when you use your browser; and truth be told, most people use their browsers all the time! That needs to change, so, here is the Pale Moon project: Custom-built and optimized Firefox browsers for Windows Operating Systems. Make sure to get the most speed and efficiency out of your browser!"

The nice thing so far that I really like about Pale Moon is the fact that almost all the plug-ins from mozilla.org will run.

The interesting observation so far is, if you use SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) as part of your installation. It will not recognize Palemoon and refuse to install the mozilla protection. The workaround I used was to simply install Firefox (ver. 7.0.1) and then Pale Moon. After installing SpywareBlaster, delete Firefox. The protection and updates have worked since then.

The testing continues...

Upgraded to Internet Explorer 9. Now everything is blank!

So on my laptop after a factory restoration. I did the usual patches for Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Imagine my surprise after Internet Explorer 9 installs (without a hitch I might add) that regardless of what site I visited the browser window was blank. Mousing around the window indicated that the page was open just couldn't see anything. While this was kinda amusing at first (find the hidden link...) it did get irritating. After contacting the manufacturer of the laptop and being told "Oh, no problem. just ship back the unit and we'll take a look."

After surfing around I found this:
Internet Explorer 9 is always blank, no matter which website I visit.
1. In Internet Options> Advanced> Accelerated graphics (first in the list) try "Use software rendering" checked and unchecked.

Now IE9 is happily displaying websites as it should.
